Belly mower mounting

Postby farmer.boy » Mon Mar 07, 2005 6:01 pm

I have a bushhog brand belly mower - model 412 and am not real happy with how I have it mounted. I got my hands on a manual and all the drawings show the two lift chains mounted on the side of the deck and going up to a shackle then to the lift. Mine has the chains mounted on the front and middle of the deck and rather than being shackled together each chain goes to these hefty steel bars which apparently bolt to the lift. The problem is that due to several factors the steel bars will not mount in such a way that the lift effort actually lifts front and back of the mower together..
Again there are no complete drawings but some partials in the part list section. In the parts list it shows a couple of other mounting schemes. My parts seem to be a blend of what is shown.

It was sold as being "from a cub" but it was also claimed to be an International brand. After cleaning it up I saw it is a bushhog brand.

So does anyone have a picture they can post showing a belly mower with chains from front and mid of the deck going to these mounting bars?

Thanks
Stanley

mower mounting

I myself, don't think this is a Cub approved mower. Not saying it won't work, but, all I've ever seen for a Cub have arms to the rear of the tractor and are lifted from the front of the mower. Go to Cub manuals listed under links on home page here. It shows a Cub mower. Hope this helps.

:? I have the woods 42" it has two piece steel bar that lifts it. I am about ready to go to a chain becuse when the ground pushes it up it hold it down for a second and I can feel it try to lift the whole tractor. Its not tight and I've oiled it but it dosen't help. There are some parts of my yard I cannot cut with the mower all the way down on the skids or if it is wet.

Those 2 bars should be able to fold together to allow the mower to float.

Cowboy the 2 bars should be assembled so the ear that sticks out on one of them keeps them from becoming completely straight.
