After I took the mag off the most recent project I discovered oil in the case where the coil is located. This does not seem correct. Something about thinking an air gap means an air gap not oil gap. Am I wrong or should there be a seal to keep engine oil out of the mag? Looking at the parts diagram I can find no seal. HELP.

Cecil from what I have read in past posts on this subject I believe there is a seal/gasget that needs replacing to fix your oil problem. If you can find Donny`s mag page it might show it.

If your impulse also had oil in it, the drive seal where it mounts to the tractor is leaking. If there was not oil in the impulse, you may be overoiling it. There is a cotton like packing in it htat distributes the oil to the shafts.
