Re: Manifold studsscrew 2 regular (not manifold) nuts on the stud, the use 2 wrenches to lock them together good and tight, then put wrench on one closest to engine and back the stud out. If that doesn't work, the next step is to buy or borrow a stud extractor.

Re: Manifold studsCould try welding a nut to the end, like we do with broken head bolts. The heat may help loosen it, too. Ed

Re: Manifold studsDusty, a little more info is needed. Are these broken studs? If so is any of the stud sticking out or is it broke below the surface? The two suggestions given are good ones, but they are for two different situations. If broken below the surface you may have to drill them out. If that is the case then a left hand drill bit might do the trick.

Re: Manifold studsOK guys - used a little of everything! At least all of them are out - take it in to be boiled out tomorrow. Have help coming Sat. AM to determine just where I need to go w/bearings & rings! YAHOO !! STARTING THE OTHER WAY W/IT!! Who knows - just might have it running by Cubtug time! Thanks for all the tips! Have to start putting it back together, my "parts wall" is getting filled up!

Re: Manifold studsAnyone know where I can get new studs? I've already twisted one off and the rest are just as stubborn. Figure new ones would be better anyway.
Btw... they're going into a new rebuilt engine
Re: Manifold studs
A good parts house should be able to fix you up. I don't believe in taking the bull by the horns. I took a goat by the horns once and that was enough excitement for me.

Re: Manifold studsAuto parts store. They should have some with two different diameter ends, just in case you have to drill out one and then retap to a larger diameter. I have an excuse. CRS.
