Looks like the original fine mesh grill. Does anyone know what use (if any) this tractor has seen?

The tractor was sold only once. It has the original engine block back in it now. This was used on a small vegetable/truck farm here in So. WI.

A special brass plaque that was to be attached to it at the factory is in the possession of the former IH employees family that (ironically) lives about 25 miles from where this tractor is....

Mike can tell the rest of the story......that is, if he has recovered yet....

501

I thought 501 was a 47? Does the cub in the pic have hydraulics? I didn't think they were available then. I guess they were added later?

hydraulics could be and frequently were added to any model.

The hydraulics were added later to the tractor. Supposedly at one time this tractor had every Cub implement (IH labeled) you could buy with it.

I wonder how many fake tags are going to be made now.......

The # 501 Cub Lo-Boy exists too. Its exact location is not known at this time, but its former owner was 45 miles east of where F-Cub 501 is. Wisconsin must be the low serial number Cub hotbed.....

I hope that 502-509 F-Cubs are found soon. The correct police will have a field day with them........

I thought the early Cubs had a rating of 1600 RPMs on the ID tag. This looks like 1800 RPMs to me in the photo. Am I incorrect, or was it 1800 when they first were built?

I believe that it was max idle 1800. That is no load. Max at full load 1600 RPM.

The tag on my SN 563 Cub is stamped with the 1800 rpm.

My '57 runs like a sewing machine at 1800 rpm discing. Does not seem like its working hard, it would seem like 1600 rpm would put more strain on the engine under load :?:

Well, 501 looks to be in pretty nice shape. They should turn this one over to the Correct Police to finish off a little nicer though because of its significance. Is it the picture or are the rear rims bent at the edges

Do you think it had an adjustable axle when new?

AND a bunch of you guys wouldn't believe me about the tractor.
I may bring it to Cubarama but then Jamie and John wouldn't come to our show so it will make it alot tougher to go ALL the way to MISSOURI AGAIN. :-)

Mike

The show went great, we made about $50,000 for the archives.
30 + tractors including 2 French Super Cubs, French Cubs, 1963 Industrial Cub, 1955 Cub Highcrop etc...German and French built IH tractors and some bigger IH tractors. Of course I have about 20 IH trucks and an IH refridge in the Shop.
