Disk Hillers on Ebay Rant!

Postby Super A » Sun Feb 27, 2005 11:51 am

I have been watching this set of hillers on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=3876064689&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT I have a set exactly like them for the Super A, and have been looking for another set so that I could use the 230 and its 2 row cultivator for making rows. (BIG FARMER!) Well you can see what they sold for. Wow, the seller did good!! Now here's the point to this rant: I looked in the latest Agri Supply catalog: http://www.Agri-Supply.com and you can buy a pair of NEW King type disk hillers, 14" with a 22" long shank, for $41.49 each. You can get Blanton type, same basic hiller but with a 4 bolt hub instead of 6 bolt, for $31.95 each. Only difference is they have straight shanks, but a few bucks at a machine shop, or a good torch, vice, and 3' long piece of 2" metal pipe will give you the "crooked shank" hillers like these on Ebay. And they'll be NEW. With REAL BALL BEARINGS, not those goofy cast iron regreasable hubs with the felt washer inside! I don't know why some people don't do their homework before they bid!!

Rant off

Thanks for the rant Al , I bid on those but I really did not expect to win. I looked some for new stuff but did not find what I wanted , now your rant has pointed me in the right direction :D The new 14" disc will be better for me anyway . Now all I need is the clamps to attach them to a 244 cultivator bar.

Earl
