seat covering

Postby Paul Stav » Thu Feb 17, 2005 12:00 pm

My operators manual indicates that IH made a tie-on, padded, silver colored seat covering. Does anyone know if someone out there still makes a similar product? My seat is in good shape, but I think I want a cover that I can remove when not in use. Also, in the experience of the forum members, who makes the best most complete decal set? Thanks.

Most of the tie-on seat covers I have seen are black and red/white. I have seen some after-market/repro seats that are silver; I bought one to go on my '49. Check http://www.jptractorsalvage.com for the covers and complete seats. You might also consider contacting:

I got a silver tie-on from Ken at Carter & Gruenewald. It is a vinyl material and is holding up well.

Cub-Bud, how did you like the replacement seat that you got from JP? My original silver canvas seat is suffering from rips and tears after 50 years. I want to replace it when I have the tractor painted this spring.

The silver seat I bought two years ago came from OEM; paid $98.00 for it. JP sells the same one...$100.00. It has held up quite well. Call Jamie at JP's and she'll get you a seat.

Paul,

:D If you would like to keep your original seat, Darrell Darst in Moscow, Mo. Phone # 636-356-4764 (Home} or 636-528-4877 (Work) does an excellent job of recovering seats. Uses the original type silver canvas and will paint it if you wish. I had mine done about a year and a half ago and it was $100 including paint and shipping. I think Maple-Hunter 812-894-9759 makes the best set of cut vinyl decals. That's my two cents!
Always try the easiest thing first.
