I saw this last night and I thought I would like to have one myself. I think George or maybe even Jim has one and posted it here at one time or another.

I wonder "IF" and that a BIG if, one could locate one of these cheaply, can the cable and drive still be purchased at IH or would you have to just hold off until one came up on eBay or elsewhere I would like to have it for the hour meter more than anything.

I just went back and looked at it for the third time, this time closer. That tach IS in perfect condiditon!! either they didn't use the tractor this come off of (431 hours), or let it get wet and sit out in the sun, more than likely BOTH!

I don't have one, have seen 3 or 4 total, ever.

If you have the head, the mounting brackets would probably be the biggest problem remaining. I imagine you can probably still get the cable made to length by a speedometer shop. It might be plastic covered rather than metal. The drive at the distributor can probably be found fairly easily used from a bigger tractor.

Ok Jim, sorry I thought it might have been you, must have been George then. From the looks of it, he's has all kinds of that hard to find neat stuff like that.

That speedometer cable shop was kind my line of thinking too, if all else fails try that. BUT first, need to come up with the most important thing right? AND looking at the price, that may be a long ways anyhow.

Anyhow it wouldn't be the first time I had to get something, "one piece at a time" got a lot of projects like that already, lol!

I have one of these tachs on a '67 Loboy. It was on the tractor when purchased new but it more of a novelty item than anything. I don't do anything with the tractor that causes me to pay attention to it.

That might have been the case Jim, I tried seaching for it, AND my luck as with any type of search results. I get everything but what I am looking for. That's why I usually will ask a question that have been asked time and time again.

Not to mention, my memory sure likes to play tricks on me. I can't remember from ome day to the next, most likey just to darn many things going on at one time.

Well that's my thoughts too, Farmboy. I have no real need for one either, just would like to have one for the hour meter, but there is a lot more other things I need that is more important for the Cub first. I guess I could just get a small digital hour meter and hide is someplace out of the way.

Has she been talking to you, That's about an everyday experience with me. just last weekend she saw me doing this and asked me if I was lost.

I have a NOS cub tach that I bought 8 years ago for $75.00. I had the bracket on my 65 Cub and bought the cable new from my IH dealer. One day when I restore my 65 Cub I will put it on. Nice setup but really no real use but for looks.
