Farmall Seat Picture

Postby Maritimer » Mon Feb 07, 2005 8:34 pm

Does anyone have a picture of a farmall seat that is or has been reupholstered with the two colours. There is a fellow here that I went to go see tonite and he say's he can do it if I have a picture of it for him to go by. We'll see. I'll post a picture of it when he gets it done....If I can find a good picture of it to give him first.

Here is a good picture of a new Cub Pan-Seat on eBay that shows good color detail.

BigDog, tell me something here. I see in the other tractor in your pictue of the Cub with a other style seat. I "THINK" that may be what my loBoy should have. But I have NOTHING, but a cheap seat from the Farm store and it's not even close to being a decent seat, other than just a seat. You can see it in my other post from this weekend.

I see that the pan seats have a single post and and probably a sping inside the post for the bouncy action. All I have is this piece of hot roll bent up and then the seat mounts to that, ant the battery box goes in between the legs that mounts to the right axel housing and the top side of the rear end. You can see about what I have on mine in this picture. (this is not what the picture is showing, but you may get the jist of it.

John, yes, that is the base for the deluxe seat such as you see in the photo. I'm sure Ralph N. in Ky. just recently sold one of those on e-bay.

All Lo-Boys used that seat base, whether they had the paint or fancy seat. Also, I don't believe any of the original seats were two-tone. If you are going to use two-colors, do it any way you want.

The scraps of my original seat were canvas over thin padding. The canvas was painted with aluminum paint.

Best,
Mike

I agree with Jim that the seats weren't originally two colors. My memory isn't always too reliable, but I think they were all silver colored canvas.

Maybe this picture will make the mounting more clear.

Earliest ones would've been black, from 47-49 or so.

BTW I have a good Darrell Darst recovered silver seat for a A/B/Super A etc. sitting around. Guess who found out the original was black AFTER he had the silver one done.........

I will agree that they were originally one color. I recall seeing a black one or two. I mostly remember the silver canvas.
Mike asked for a picture of a two tone seat which I provided. It doesn't matter to me whether someone is going for originality, or personality. It is their tractor and if they want pink polka-dots on the seat that is OK with me too. (well, maybe not pink polka-dots) :)

Darryl Darst does a nice seat but my butt can't take the rough 20 grit sand paper. I have some original seats and do not believe they where that rough when new. C&G sells some nice ones in Black, silver and 2 tone.
