I have a 1947 Cub that I plan to get running this spring and I would like to use the cultivator bars to hold some sort of blades or plows to make a raised bed for planting as I drive forward. I thought I'd post here befor I started to cut metal and see if I could tape into the collective "Gray Matter."
My idea is to just push soft dirt into a long pile not try to move compacted soil , my 1952 Cub has a belly blade so I know the limits of available power . If anyone has tried anything like this please let me know , you may be helping to keep the Hoe out of an old man's hands

Check the pictures at the links. You need a set of hillers. They are available as either moldboard style hillers or disk hillers. The attach to the cultivator frames or rear tool bar. I believe Rudi may have some pictures of a set he made.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

If you haven't seen the "cultivators" thread from yesterday over on the ATIS Cub board, take a look. http://www.atis.net/cgi-bin/FarmallCub.pl You need a Cub-144 cultivator. You could luck out and find one with some hillers or you can make/buy hillers for it.

Sounds like you already have a Cub-252 Vegetable Cultivator. It will work as well as a Cub-144, just needs different clamps to use the hillers.
Here is the 252 manual.

I tried the plow for raised beds but the plow is a single 14" on my 8n Ford and the lack of control when only partially dug in makes for a nasty ditch instead of a raised bed! I really like the potato Hiller setup that Jim showed me although it would be nice to maybe find a set of disc wheels for the cultivator. I haven't found any clamps for the 252 cultivator either, I only have three. I hope that isn't going to be a hangup. Being in California makes looking for old tractor stuff difficult , hurray for the internet.
thanks again
