I agree with George W.
A noncompressable fluid is much safer than air. Compressed air wants to expand very rapidly if its container fails and moves dangerous objects with it at a rapid rate.
The worst that would happen with water is an unscheduled bath.
Having said that, I have used air, but used very short bursts. The larger the dent, the greater the success, especially if it is not creased.
Maybe I should start following my own advice.
