Casting Numbers

Is the top casting number under the carb. the date the tractor was made?
For Example 2-17-R

Scott - It's the day that particular casting was forged. In this case, 2/17/48.

Yes, look around your tractor and you will find a casting date on each major casting. Sometimes they are very close together depending on the backlog of parts. Some castings required a longer lead time than others.

That is the date that particular casting was poured at the foundry. Assembly date would have been sometime later.
