Now I'm ready for snow

Postby John *.?-!.* cub owner » Fri Jan 07, 2005 8:02 pm

We've had several predictions of snow in our area, but none have materialized. Have another one for sleet and snow tonight. The 48 has been rigged with chains for a few weeks already, but now I am to.

They sell something very similar to those at Eddie Bauer, EMS and REI...they're called Yak Trax in those stores. I got my wife a pair last year in her Christmas Stocking. They probably would have them in other sporting goods/outdoor stores.

Those are new boots that John bought for his wife so she could go out and plow snow. I thought it was darn nice of him to treat her so well. Besides, he wouldn't want her to slip on the ice when she needs to go out and play with the parts washer she got for Christmas a year ago.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Actually I didn't want to have to worry about Joann when she is shovelling snow.

Paul is correct. When you have an artificial hip you take strong precautions against falls. If you dislocate it (which is easy to do, especially in a fall) you have to go to the hospital to get it put back, sometimes have to have surgery again. I have even taken my metal cane and used a Dremel to cut teeth on the end so all I have to do is pull the rubber tip off if I get caught on ice.

I bought the boots just a few months before I had my hip replaced and they haven't had a lot of wear, but have been used more than they look like.

Here is a link to the boot chains.

Bill, thanks for the offer. HA HA. It looks like I will live with some of the probelms the rest of my life, but at least I'm still walking, which I was on the verge of not being able to do before. We only got about an inch of snow, and it's supposed to be 58 tomorrow, so it looks like no worry.
