Removing Hudraulic lines on a front split

Postby Kirk » Wed Jan 05, 2005 10:41 pm

Happy New Year to you all.

I'll be doing a front split for the first time to replace my throw-out bearing. The service manual states that the hydraulic lines should be disconnected and removed.

My first question is: do the lines actually need to be unfastened on both ends and removed...or can just one end be disconnected. If so, which end should be disconnected?

Other than inspecting the clutch while I'm in there, is there anything else I should look for and/or replace?

Thanks for your help
Kirk

Due to how far they would extend beyond the split, no matter which end was disconnected, I owuld remove them. Awfully easy to damage them with one very small oops.

John,

Oh yeah, I hadn't thought about the kines just sticking out there. I can certainly see me walking by and breaking them off.

Thanks for the practical look, John! Off they come.

Oh yes, the manual says to replace the seals and o-rings when removing the lines. What/where is the best source for them?

Thx John!!
Kirk

I bought a complete system from JP a while back and when all the parts came, there were new gaskets in the box. Check JP's, they probably sell just the gaskets too.
When I told my dad I've been misplacing things and doing stupid stuff----His reply---"It only gets better"
