Poor response to throttle advancement
When I move the throttle lever up the quadrant, the engine rpms don't increase until I am about midway. Is there an adjustment that I can make in order to make the engine more responsive to the throttle lever? Thanks! Findoggy

Check your governor linkage for slop or binding. The governor may be dirty too. Check the owner's manual for proper governor set-up.

I have the same problem on my '67.
What I found was that the spring between the throttle lever linkage and the governor is slack for the first 1/3 to 1/2 of the throttle travel. I'm presuming this is not normal, and either I have the wrong spring or it's stretched out. Both the M and 400 aren't like this.
Take a look under the hood at the front of the engine while a friend moves the throttle lever.

Wear elongating the holes the spring hooks to contributes to this too. Wear in the holes the throttle rod attaches adds to the problem. In truth i have found that even with part of the throttle trave doing nothing I still have enough travel to reach Max speed.
