This is a pic from the winter of 2003 before I had installed the additional blade on the front.

Below is a Dec. 2004 pic of me working my way out of the garage with the front blade.

No more snow than we've had the last couple years I'm thinking about this setup. It would have lots of traction with me sitting on it, but not much power.

Hey John...If'n I'm NOT mistakin' that "lil' RED peddler" looks just like my Cousin Bobby Earl  ! He took an old Farmall F-14 (on steel) and by the time he got through cuttin' it down and puttin' rubber on it. ..it looked IDENTICLE to that picture :P !!!

Are you sure that photo ain't Bobby Earl pushin' snow off the front walk at the Dog N' Suds in Soddy Daisy, TN  ???

Yesterday was like Christmas eve, 3 to 8 inches predicted. This morning there is only 1" of sleet and blue sky.
My first year with a snow blade and I can't buy enough snow to push. :?
As usual, I had better be careful what I wish for, I might get it.

Best,
Mike

If you remember, I posted "sad sad sad day" - I was doing everything wrong when pushing snow. To those that do remember, the good news is this saturday I'm taking it to a welder who says it won't be a problem to get it fixed up. Lets keep our fingers crossed!!

Here is what I learned:
Make sure everywhere you are gonna plow is free of obsticles - including 1/4" ledges in cement such as manholes, even cracks

Do not use speed to make up for traction

Belly mount blade will work just find for packed snow, and snow less than 1" - otherwise plan on doing a lot of pushing (of the tractor)

Make sure the trip spring on the blade is functional

One final step we are going to do after getting the blade mounted again (I'll keep it as a belly mount) is run 2 braces from the alternate drawbar, back to the regular drawbar. THis will be added "pushing" support. Plus, I think the braces will make an excellent place to mount my toolbox.

I'll have plenty of pictures of the before and after of all this.

I spent some quality plowing time on the Cub this morning, so I thought I'd post a picture of my right hand man, Luke, doing his share. I haven't posted a picture before, so we'll see how it goes. :)

Looks good Vern. Every job is better with a good helper.

Thanks, Bill. Luke is the best helper I could ask for. Especially when it comes to the Cub. He does the snow dance every night hoping we'll have snow to plow in the morning!

You are so right, Country. :) I was about Luke's age when I was my dad's helper and sat on his lap riding on this very same Cub. Luke will be 5 in April, and I'll be 50 in May. I've already raised 3 boys, and learned the hard way how fast they grow up. I didn't take nearly enough pictures when they were younger. But I'm making up for it with Luke.
