Use IH Hy-tran or equivalent.

How many answers you want? Everybody has an opinion. I would use CaseIH Hy-Tran or other hydraulic oils labeled as compatible with Hy-Tran.

Don't use cheap hydraulic oil or any motor oil. Don't contaminate it with kerosene, Diesel fuel or anything else.

Assuming it hasn't been used in a while, check the fluid. If you don't hear the pump whining you might want to pull it and make sure the nut hasn't fallen off allowing the drive gear to slip off the shaft.

Also go to the Blue 'ribbon manual section of Rudi's website and follow the tc trouble shooting instructions.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

the last time i used it was about 4 weeks ago, i had power washed it but i made sure i didnt wash the backside of the hydraulics.the pump is whining too. it looks like the piston that the linkage hooks up to is frozen, is that possible?

Sounds like you got water in it when you power washed it and it hasn't thawed out yet.

Hy-tran ultra Ms 1209 was suggested by another cub owner and Case IH, Also check O rings at pump. Cost is cheap and can buy them at any hardware store. Cold weather can shrink rubber and cause problems.

i am able to move the shaft now, a friend had suggested tapping the shaft lightly to see if it would move. it started to move and now i have it working pretty easily now. i'll start it this weekend to see if it works ok.
