Christmas Cub Road Trip

Postby Gene Chestnutt » Sat Dec 18, 2004 11:31 pm

Merry Christmas to all and best wishes for a Happy New Year. Setting out from deep south Texas in the morning to visit with Sam Adams in Tatum, Texas and bring home a 1973 Cub with mower and whatever else I can convince my wife to let me load on the trailer. Five hundred miles there and never leave the state. Looking forward to the trip and of course stopping in Giddings, Texas for some barbecue. Big Dog, you might want to turn that Cub Radar south. I hear tell Sam has 4 or 5 Cubs camoflauged in the Piney woods.

Gene - - Have fun at Sam's place. I have the ole radar shut down for now. Got some repairs to make to what I already have and another project to finish before I add any more. Of course, if a bargain just happened along..........

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Gene, you may as well detour over here and pick up another Cub while you're this close. BigDog, when are you coming back to LA.?

Merlin,
We would love to head your way. My wife is just looking for an excuse. I was sick with the flu this week but had made a promise to retrieve the 1973 from Sam and we made a quick trip. Wanted some front weights but Sam had none available. Saw that tractor Sam has on sale for $1000. Its OK but is rough. The radiator is completely shot. He has another for about the same asking price more solid with an excellent alternator key switch conversion. Real professional looking job. I have an M sitting at his place for the last 6 months waiting on a hauler but they want more than the value of the tractor bring my M and take my JD70 back to Sam. We may try to make it to Ponchatoula this spring for the strawberry festival. Take care of yourself and have a Merry Christmas. Hope to see you in a few months.

A 1951 Cub, but its got a later grille. I still don't know how to post a pic., but it is in a tractor album in Webshots. This may or may not take you to one pic. of it. It's a bad pic. anyway.

Whoa, Bigdog (et al)! I'll have you know that Article 1, Sect 4, Para G, of the Louisiana State
Constitution expressly forbids removal of Farmall Cub tractors from this state. I'm surprised that Merlin didn't make you aware of this felony offense.

The cubinator (trailer) has a cloaking device. It makes it look like the trailer is empty. I just smile and wave at all of those troopers as I empty the state of all those unwanted cubs.

Twas' Christmas in Ohio at the BIG DOG Ranch...All unsecured Cubs would not stand a chance!

The "Cubinator" was hitched to the Dog's Big, Old Dodge..."Now Dash Away quickly to each open garage!"

The Moon was so full...on the fresh, fallin' snow...gave the luster of mid day to the farm fields below.

As the Dog in his Dodge pushed the peddle to the floor..."Now dash away, dash away...let's get us some MORE!

Oh the locks on those barn doors just opened like butter...As the BIG DOG sprang into action... with his trusty bolt cutter!

Silent and stealthy he went straight to work...he loaded the trailer...then turned with a jerk!

There in the corner...nearly just out of sight...was a GEM to behold...a Cub "Combo" Tail Light!!!

He gathered it up, and jumped back in the Dodge...His work was all through here...just an empty garage!

A flick of a switch and the trailer looked bare...then back to Ohio with hardly a care  !!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2004 BIG DOG
