Where and what to get for magneto rebuild kit ???

Postby rick 48 cub » Thu Dec 16, 2004 9:23 pm

I have a real weak spark and would like to rebuld the magneto. Donny M sent me a neat article he wrote on the process - motivating me to give it a try myself.

For my 1948 cub where should I go to get parts and what parts should I get ?

(Compression is acceptable - I am hoping the problem lies in the spark.)

thanks, Rick

Magneto Parts

Postby Eugene » Fri Dec 17, 2004 1:02 am

Couple of other ideas.

1) Local auto parts stores - in rural areas they can obtain a lot of tractor parts.

2) Local farm supply stores. Orschelens (spelling) has rebuild kits for magnetos.

3) New Holland dealer or Case IH dealer. Spoke with the local New Holland parts man a short while back. If you have the IH part number there is a very good chance he can get the part for you.

I got points, condensor and distributor cap at NAPA...no big deal, but the rotor is about $27.00 from a tractor parts supplier. Got mine from John at JP.

What other parts do you want to get :?:

Mike
