VR wiring

Postby 9mules » Thu Dec 16, 2004 7:19 am

'48 Cub, 6V battery start, distributor, 4-pos. light switch

My cut-out relay is fried, I want to replace it with a regulator.
Is there a diagram out there for this set-up? Page 33/FigIH124 looks good, but the fuse has got me stumped.
Thanks

Thanks Bill,
What's with the fuse? Looks like I've to replace the one at the light switch?
If so, what size?
NAPA have the regulators?
Thanks

9mules - if you use the 4 position switch with a regulator, you will not be using the 2 charge positions, they will become the off positions for the lights. The fuse will be for the light circuit only and you can use the one on the switch rather than an external fuse. 20 amp should be fine. NAPA may have the regulator if you talk to the right counter guy.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

My wife says I don't listen to her. - - - - - - - - Or something like that!

You can also buy a circuit breaker at most auto parts stores that just snaps in in place of the fuse. If you have hydralics that is a good idea due to difficulty to reach.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

O.K. Got it. Rubbin my head raw thinking about it...fuse is protecting the light switch. Makes sense now. Basic electronic wiring.
John! Thanks for the tip, havn't seen that one on the boards....Yes, I've hydraulics...man its hard getting to the dash.
NAPA said they've got the regulator, but I don't have an I.D. tag for the generator (adjustable 3rd brush type) to match up with regulator.

Anyway of identify my generator without one?

Your original generator should have been 1101355. It is the one with the screw in the back end for adjusting the position of the third brush.
