I purchased a '63 Cub that was meticulosly (did I spell that word right?) restored by a mechanical engineer to be a show tractor for, hold onto your seat, $4,950.00! And I feel I got a great deal. He had block work done and the motor was completely rebuilt. He rebuilt or replaced a lot of parts and had receipts to show the rebuild parts purchased or the part itself purchased. The sheet metal was professionally painted and the gas tank treated with a three step process. It has a fast hitch with the helper spring. I got a fast hitch landscape rake, scrape blade, carry all, and a Woods RM42 finish mower with it. He said it took him about 2 years to restore the tractor. All four tires are new with wheel weights on all wheels. It had about 20 hours on it when I bought it. It was like buying a new tractor but with nostalgia!!

Given the amount of work done to your tractor, I would say you got a deal!

Doug you did ok. I would turn down that for my Cub and all implements.

:D I was given a 69 Y&W CUB from my Grandfather.

I have 2 acres to cut & had no belly mower. I purchased a 1970 CUB with a 42" mower for $1600. Since then( 3 years) I have been using Grandpa's CUB with the other mower with no problems!!

Plan to get the 1970 running this winter.

I bought my 54 last year with a 22 mower for $1500.
It starts and runs great but smokes some, hydraulics are good.
I picked up a 193 plow and a 54A blade (like new) last fall for 150 bucks and a buddy of mine just dropped off a set of rear weights for free.
Front weights came from the cub cadet collection.

Now I need anuther.....

I paid $1200 for my 48. It came with plow, sickle bar mower, cultivators and rear wheel weights. I paid $900 to have it shipped from New Jersey to California. Engine ran great but rest needed a lot of tender loving care. It looks and runs good now. Total including shipping and restoration costs is about $4500. It was the first tractor I drove (actual one) at about 12 years old so it has some sentimental value.

Prich of Cubs

Postby CaptPaulret » Tue Dec 14, 2004 1:00 pm

May 2003 I bought my 1955 Cub with fast hitch, mold board plow, cultivators, grader blade, disk, tire chains, touch control for $1000.00.
I had to clean and seal gas tank and still have to replace some seals, clean rust and paint. April 2004 I bought a 48" Mott flail mower from a salvage yard, done some repairs about $300.00 invested. Love that little cub and really enjoy this forum. Most Cubs in this area start at $2000.00

Thanks guys for all that replied.
I learned a little about prices around the country.
Hope that it will help some others on what to expect to pay
for diff. attachments & cubs.
If it's been broken I did it.
If its not broken wait till I touch it.

I bought a 1960 Cub Lo-Boy 2 years ago sight unseen from Ohio for $1800. It has good paint, no serious rust (the exhaust pipe is rusty but they all are) and the engine has new rings. Runs great, good power, no smoke. It came with a fairly beat up but rebuildable Woods 60" belly mower. I'll have it rebuilt and painted by spring. Soon after I bought it, the main belt to the mower broke. I was delighted to learn I could buy a replacement from my local tractor supply for less than $30. That is one big belt!
