Two-way plow

Postby Buggyscott » Thu Dec 09, 2004 9:55 am

Quick questions. Two-way moldboard plows for a cub, are they desirerable and handy to have? Ballpark price on a set in say very good condition? I want them, just don't know how bad I want them, maybe a Christmas present for myself. Thanks.
Got a Cub and a good team of horses, nothing else I need or want except maybe another Cub and some more equipment!

Buggy - I think a rollover plow would be nice to have just for the novelty but if you are going to only use if for garden space etc. a single plow would be just as practical and probably a lot cheaper.

i'm sure it varies around the country depending on availability, but $250 range for a complete 2 way plow, coulters, depth control , and latch bar setup in good condition is ballpark around here.

PartsMan and RUDI got me using one at cubfest - had to go buy one.

now i have more implements than cubs..... :)

"now i have more implements than cubs....."

...which justifies buying more cubs. 8)

They are very nice to plow gardens or hillsides, but more of a chore to mount. The upside is you can mount only the right plow and use it as a single. The last time I checked, the right share was still available from IH, but the left was not.
My right share was worn more than the left indicating it was used alone.

Have a set of 189's on thier 6th set of points & 2nd set of boards.
Dad bought this cub in 1952 & paid for it by plowing snow & plowing & fitting gardens in 1 year.
Would realy like to know how many acres it has plowed.
If it's been broken I did it.
If its not broken wait till I touch it.

If you are interested in seeing how the mid mounted disk plow works give me a call this spring. It seems to work great in the soil we have around here. Good luck on finding a plow.

Robert, I do have a mid mount disc plow, came with the tractor. I sure will get with you on how this plow works and is set up. I'm sure we both got the same type of Shelby County soil.
Got a Cub and a good team of horses, nothing else I need or want except maybe another Cub and some more equipment!
