Thanks to Donny, I Ride Again

My Cub became a problem tractor in mid-summer. One day it was running fine and the next day it failed to start. Over the course of 2-3 days, I got it running well enough to complete my mowing but it had very little power. It then went into a no-start mode. Over a period of several weeks, I cleaned and re-gapped the plugs, then installed new plugs, new plug and mag wires, new points and condenser and drained and replaced the gas. I had never timed a mag but got lots of experience in that line too. Two great Cub friends, Donny M. and hr's 49 cub, graciously volunteered to meet at my place and fix the tractor. To do so would have required several hours drive for each and I didn't feel that I should cause them to give up their limited family time. I have often been told that "practice makes perfect" but it became very evident, during the next few weeks, that my skills as a tractor mechanic showed no improvement. Donny came by today, determined to have the tractor running before he left. He is much too nice to say so, but I suspect that he spent quite a bit of time correcting problems which I created during the weeks when I was trying to fix it myself. Donny accomplished what he came to do. When he left, the Cub was running like Cubs are supposed to run. It is great to have friends, especially friends who give their time and their knowledge to make our lives more enjoyable. Thanks again, Donny. Over the past two years or so I have come to know many of our fellow Cubbers who constantly give of themselves in any way that they can. Many names come to mind, but suffice to say at the moment, that Donny epitomizes all that is good and wonderful about the people who haunt this forum.

Nowhere in all my travels be it in the military, around the world with my Amateur Radio friends or just as a tourist, have I met so many wonderful people as I have on this forum.

These people are who make this the Very Best Forum on the Net and the greatest place to call our internet home

Awe shucks fellas all I did is wave a tube of DC4 in front of the tractor and the rain cap started bouncing with fear

Dan forgot to mention the set of rear cultivators that he gave me. And the great ham sandwhich and assorted other goodies that were placed in the front seat of my truck.
