McCormic Deereing leveling and grader blade

Postby Maritimer » Sun Oct 31, 2004 11:42 am

I have a question about my blade for my cub. Does anyone have one of these blades(not the one with the spring on top, just the spring on bottom)So I can possibly get a few measurements? I have the blade and a few componets but I need the measurements off the 3 or 4 arms that go from the touch control. I am going to take a stabe at making these

Thank you,
Mike

Mike:

Gordon and I have these blades and are in the process of making all the parts we are missing. The blades that we have are NOT the McCormick Deering Leveling and Grader Blade, but are the Cub-54 Blades. Check yours against the manuals on the server. We originally thought we had the McCormicks, but were pleasantly surprised when we noticed the differences.

The McCormick differ from the 54 series in a number of areas. Most noticeable is the Blade Support Angle/Frame, the Lifting Rods, and the centre hinge plate. These are not all the differences, just a couple of the most noticeable.

So far we have made these:

Tool Bar Spacer Blocks and Rod
Substitute Drawbar
Front Axle Hanger
Skids
Front Lifting Arms Assembly
Bell Crank Assembly

We had the Spring Rod repaired.

We still need to decide if we are going to the rods or to the actual bars for the following:

Rear Lifting Rod

Also, guys, I still need a manual for the Cub-54 Leveling and Grader Blade. Anyone got one??????

Donny:

Is it the same one as in pdf format on the server? If not, then yes please.

I really would like to find the Cub-54 though as there are a bunch of parts that are different. I need to figure out which I can use and which I have to have made.

Thanks again Donny, I appreciate.

Rudi,
No, I have the McCormic Deereing one. Mine doesn't have the spring on the top front. It has the one on the bottom though. Actually, I have both here, the 54 is all in tact but Its not mine......yet.HA. This is the one that came with the cub. It has the solid bar that does the listing in the front and other bars that do the lifting when you hook it up under the belly. I need the measurements for all the bars on it. I thought that if I borrowed the 54 blade I could get the plans off it. It is quite similar except the lifting bars, which is what I need.

Donnie, do you have a copy of the manual for the McCormic Deereing blade?

54 blade

Postby danovercash » Mon Nov 01, 2004 12:00 pm

Rudi, I think that's one of the ones I have. Don't know exactly where it is right now as we have been in the process of moving and settling for the last 4 months or so. Ifn I find it , a copy is yours. also would like to trade for copy of 54A manual. Saw one at Denton several years ago, but didn't have time to wait on auction.

Dan:

Will upload the 54A /L54 Manual asap. Thanks, I am looking forward to it.

Mike:

Does your blade have just the u-shaped frame? Or, does it have the complete frame that attaches to the blade?

The McCormick-Deering is the first blade and was made in 47. The 54 is the next generation. It has a lot of improvements over the original, including the improved mounting frame with additional re-inforcement and new mounting bracket/thingys....

I originally thought that mine was the 47 model, but it turns out to be the 54.

If you do indeed have the 47 model, then George Willer should be able to help on the missing parts.

Mark up a copy of the parts pages, scan em and post them, or you can email them to me and I will upload them to the server.

Hope that helps.

Danovercash,
Would it be at all possible if I could get a copy of the manual from you for the McCormic Deereing grader blade?

Rudi,

I see where you're going now. Sooo the 54 blade has a different undermount system than the one in the McCormick Owner's Manual on your site then? Won't the configuration work anyway though? I'm assuming I have the 54 blade S/N #54-U111. As indicated above, this is the model with the spring underneath and looks very much like the one in the site Owner's Manual. I guess I misunderstood you in yesterday's correspondence. Now I have no idea which mounting/linkage system I need :(

Well this is strange...

I was just talking to a coworker of mine who has the exact same blade I picked up. An INternational 54, vintage 1960's or so. He's invited me to come over and take a look. I'll snap a few photos and sketch something up for everyone. I probably won't get over there until next week however.

ScottyG,

I had to read your post twice. The s/n on your blade is 54-U111. The s/n on my 54A blade is 54-U1111.
There for a minute I thought we were using the same blade    8)
