1966 cub question 12V neg grd OR 6 v pos GND ????

Postby chrisbz9 » Tue Oct 26, 2004 11:23 am

Hello Folks

I have a 1966 cub full size. I am returning to original condition. When I got the tracter, it did not have a battery. From what I have read this year tracter is a 12V negative ground system. Can someone please verify that this tracter is indeed a 12V , neg ground??????

Thank You!!!!!

Cubs went to 12 volt systems in mid 1964. So yours should be 12 volt negative ground.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

My wife says I don't listen to her. - - - - - - - - Or something like that!

My '67 is 12V negative ground.

HOWEVER, my Cub operator's manual, printed in 1970, still lists 6V positive ground as a possibility. It also shows crank start and a magneto.

I wonder if these were REALLY options in 1970, or if they just didn't bother taking those pages out of the manual?
