Buggy 4, Bolts 0

Postby Buggyscott » Sat Oct 09, 2004 1:20 pm

:D :D Got all four of the old bolts that held the battery box in place out this am. About two weeks of penatrating oil and tapping plus thanks to John *.?-!.* for his suggestion of getting a Bolt-Out (got it at Sears). This got three of the well rounded bolts straight up. The forth broke off flush but a left twist drill got most of it out. Ran a chase down the hole and used a little longer bolt in this hole this time, gripped good.
Thanks for the advise and encouragement I got from all on this site. Also if anyone hasn't seen Roger Welsch's books, they are worth looking at, even though he is a Allis WC man. Lots of good advise for the beginner, lots of humor and a easy read.
Now onto removing the seat (more well rusted bolts) and then both of the final drives need new seals and gaskets (arrived yesterday) plus one is cracked and needs changed out (got one a couple of weeks ago). Also will be doing a brake job since I'm in there anyway. Again thanks guys, I am sure there will be more questions in the near future.

Congrats Buggy! Don't ya love it when a plan falls together? :)

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

My wife says I don't listen to her. - - - - - - - - Or something like that!
