hi everyone
I recently purchased a 49 cub and it seems to have no spark
so I took off distributor cap and rotor only to find gears and now I'm not sure if I put it back on correctly. it is a magneto with no coil.
what should I do
thanks for the help
hope to get to talk to some good people

Welcome. You will find very friendly and knowledgable people on this forum

Kevin the coil is built into the magnito. It is covered by that black plastic cover on the top of the Mag. It is possible to have had the coil removed from there. On the mag it will say j4 magnito if that is what you have. There is a proceedure for timing them and checking them out but I will have leave that for those more knowledgable than I.

Kevin - the rotor gears are marked for proper alignment. Look for a raised line on the face of the rotor gear and the teeth on the drive gear are shaved.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
