PTO Question

Alright, back to work on the cub. I'm having to replace the clutch and shift lever on the PTO. The previous owner soldered the allen screw into the clutch. Does that screw have a tendency to work its way out. Should I secure the new one also? Thanks

H.R.,

As you know, the allen screw is not really tightened down on the shaft, but is merely intended to keep the clutch from falling off the shaft next time it is taken apart. I suppose the screw could have a tendency to work its' way out. I'm in the habit of putting a dab of Locktite on the threads to prevent this.

Some folks just leave the screw out, but I think it's a dirty trick to play on the next guy because it will fall off and have to be fished out of the lube.

Ahhh, I got it now. I understand the function of it a little better. Thanks.
The solder wasn't bad. It had just filled up the head of the screw. 8)
