Steering Gear Arm Plate Shim

Removed and replaced the bolster. Discovered the steering gear arm plate shim was missing.

How thick are the steering gear arm plate shims? Parts manual lists three different shims.

305 909 R1 Light ?????
305 910 R1 Medium ?????
305 911 R1 Heavy ?????

Is there an easy way to determine which shim or shims I need to purchase? Ballparking it - it appears that I will need somewhere around 1/16" to 3/32" of shims.

Where is a good source for the shims?

For the next guy with the same problem. Shims for the steering gear arm plate are still available from Case/IH dealers.

Part # 305 909 R1 is .007 inch thick and costs $5.21
Part # 305 910 R1 is .010 inch thick and costs $6.97
Part # 305 911 R1 is .060 inch thick and costs $5.21

We will see if this works. I am going to mike the gap is 4 or 6 places, average the gap, add .002 to the average for clearence. Then see if I can't come close to that number with the shims.
