Sandusky County Surprise!

Postby Rudi » Thu Sep 16, 2004 4:10 pm

Got a real surprise this morning. Bill Darr (sp?) and his lovely wife Agnes popped in for a visit :!:

Was out at a doctor's appointment when my wife Em called and then put Bill on the phone. Told him, be there in 15 and sure enough, they were out in the back lookin at the garden with Em...

We spent a wonderful couple of hours together over coffee and fresh home-made from scratch Banana Pecan muffins with fresh butter :D :D

Bill and Agnes were a real pleasure to have as company, and our visit was way too short. They are currently on their way to Sydney Nova Scotia to catch the ferry to Newfoundland. After they return from the "Rock", they will probably spend 2 days in PEI and then on their way back seeing as they have to come through the "HUB of the Maritimes" we may be able to spend a little more time together over lunch and coffee.

Bill surprised me with a great gift that made my day - Farmer's CubFest 2004 pin, George's 2002-03 pin and one from the very first Cub-arama! What a wonderful gesture.

George, anyway Bill could get a replacement from Farmer??

Oh, George, Bill asked if I would tell ya - they got here all right. Man, do you keep a good secret :!:

BD:

He certainly is, an that ain't no bull :!:

We thoroughly enjoyed the visit. In fact, Agnes is a sweetie who was sweet talkin Em into thinkin real hard about going to CubFest or Cub-arama in the next few years :!:

I LIKE THIS LADY ALREADY :!: :!: :!:

Bill and I also spent about a 1/2 hour discussing the reel mower idea.... I learned a lot from a real fabricator and I think this is going to work.... got me fingers crossed!

Rudi,

Yes, Bill and Agnes are fine people. Agnes sent about a bushel of great potato salad for the lunch at CubFest 2003 even though she and Bill couldn't be there because of her class reunion.

The Darrs and I were the only campers at the first Cubarama. It was a surprise.

The replacement button will have to come from Barb Dotson... the sweetheart who keeps us supplied with buttons and other memorabilia.

Bigdog brought the special hats for CubFest 2003, but I can't call him a sweetheart... maybe Janet, though!

Well George, I appreciate you not calling me a sweetheart. I will pass the comments on to Janet though. I'm sure she'll give you extra special treatment at Cubfest 05. Perhaps I should think about ordering some hats.

George:

I am totally amazed by the wonderful people I have met since becoming part of the Cub family. Just blows me away. I always used to lament that the days of the great neighbour had gone the way of the dinosaurs.... Not So! Which makes me very glad of heart!

Can you direct me to Mrs Dotson so I may make an inquiry? I really appreciated the pins, but now Bill is shy two!

BD:

Aaaaahhhh Yup! I think you should do that! Get a couple extra for those of us who will probably want one K????
