Carburetor Question
Yesterday I started to redo another old carburetor I found. I noticed that the small pin, spring and round brass piece that is supposed to be on the choke shutter was missing. There is nothing in the manual on this piece. Please tell me if the carburetor will function without this. What is the purpose of this thing

It is intended to prevent severe flooding when the choke is on because of the spring load, which works as a regulator. With it completely missing, the choke may not be effective enough. In a pinch the hole could be blanked off and the carburetor would still work well if the choke is used sparingly.

That particular part is no longer available from CaseIH. HOWEVER, it was in one of the Spectre kits that I had to order to get that specific part.
I will try to get the part number tomorrow and post it.
