Carb/Manifold Gasket Cement?

I installed a rebuilt carb on my '57 two weeks ago... This is another first for me. Its running fine, but I have not done any work with the tractor yet. A neighbor stopped over Wednesday afternoon. He said I should have used gasket cement on the new install. I did not use any...just a new gasket.

Should I remove the carb again and reinstall with gasket cement?

Thanks

Mike

I dont think it is necessary unless manifold or carb is warped. I never use cement on mine with no leaks.

If you use cement, you are going to have a devil of a time getting it off next time you have to change the gasket. I don't use anything BUT the gasket and it seals fine.

If you carb is warped, see instructions for lapping the flange on the server under Lurker Carl's Carb Fixes.

Mike . I would leave it alone if you got it to seal. no need to make more work for yourself. Steve
