which grill does the 57 get? What color?I have the books "Farmall Letter Series Tractors"by Guy Fay & Andy Kraushaar,and "Farmall Cub & Cub Cadet"by Kennith Updike but they don't go that high.I need to see a picture of a restored 57.Which seat,Round or square?Sorry for all the questions,my other cubs are 48 except for the 52 parts tractor.Quite a few minor changes in that ten years.

Jim, The beautiful Farmall Cub shown on the cover of Mr. Updike's book is a 1957.
You can use whichever seat you like, 57's came with both.

AFAIK, there are pictures of every style Cub in the Updike book. There were four major eras:
1. Original screen grill '47-'54
2. "Farmall 400" style grill '55-'58
3. 4-bar '59-'63
4. Square hood '64-'79

You left out one. The early '47 had a much finer screen. It was a distinctly different grille, and is much sought after.

And actually, the square hood style can be further subdivided into three separate sub-styles:
1. Red with the short hood decal
2. Yellow & white with the short hood decal
3. Yellow & white with the long hood decal

Careful about starting down the decal and sticker differences. Things start multiplying.
Although they are small, I believe you can find a picture of nearly every major style on the Cub FAQ. I think a square hood Farmall is the biggest omission. Anybody have a picture of one?

Getting Older moments.....
What is the difference in the screen, and what is the size of the material. Maybe Bruce will be able to get hold of some of that as well as the screen for the 48 and up.

I wouldn't be surprised if the early screen is easier to get. The wire should be the same size, but the mesh should be 8/inch (I think) instead of the later 5/inch. At least one of the list members has one (Robinson) of the early version as a double check. Mine accidently flew the coop in 1999.
