Where are the @#$#@&! Cup holders?!

Postby allenlook » Fri Aug 06, 2004 6:44 am

Guys - just a little fun - one of the longest and most hotly debated topics on the automotive boards was always the total lack of-, or total cheesiness of- the cup holders in Porsche and VW cars :D

Seeing as how my Cub doesn't have a cup holder, and seeing as I can't find one for it on eBay *anywhere*, I've decided to sell the Cub and buy one of those nifty blue Chinese tractors.

NOT!

Well, I spent some time trying to figure out a way to put a cup holder on Ellie-Mae. Mostly because my meds cause severe dry mouth, so I always have to have at least a bottle of water with me. After many tries, I decided to go on the cheap and use what already works.

Solution: Bottle holder for bicycles :!:

Wrap the straps around the steering column and tighten em up. 2 minutes and voila! instant cup/bottle holder. Mind you, the thermos cups that I use were from the Chrysler promo last summer and they fit perfectly. The beauty about the bottle holders though, is that they can be adjusted to fit many types of bottles, thermo cups etc., simply by bending the retainer....

Looks like duct tape to the rescue again. BTW, I've heard that duck tape is going to be taken off the market. Seems as if it takes twelve silver ducks to make one roll of tape. The ducks are getting rare. Haven't seen one on a long time myself.

Rick :)
Though trillions and trillions of eyes have been watching the skies for as long as human memory exists, no gods nor angels have been seen or documented outside of religion. The number of spaceships being sighted however has become much more prevalent.

Wish I had a picture of the cup holder on mine. Somebody welded a short length of well casing to a thin plate, then welded the plate to the left fender, right next to the seat. Fenders are rusted out, so it's not gonna survive the repaint.
