Wear Sleeve installation

Postby Ron » Wed Aug 04, 2004 10:04 am

Hi All,

During the rebuild of my Cub I am thinking of replacing the fan drive pulley.
I found that mine had been broken and welded back together.

My question is, how difficult is it to install a wear sleeve if it is required?
I know the manual shows a installation tool for this.

Has anyone ever done this without using this tool?
Also, how can you tell if you need a wear sleeve?

Thanks,

Ron Henderson

The ones I've used had a flange on the end that you put a piece of pipe or conduit against to drive on.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

I froze my pulley in the (ice box)as my Dad use to call it .Heated the sleeve and Bingo.....ten second job ....

Wear Sleeve installation

Postby Ron » Wed Aug 04, 2004 6:32 pm

I talked to Tom at T M Tractors and he told me that the Case I/H dealers have a kit for this as RedNed described.
I ordered one along with about $300 worth of parts to complete the rebuild.
The sleeve kit comes with the sleeve, front seal and installation tool for $13.00.

Thanks,

Ron

Mac,
I couldn't find a number for the kit.
I called Columbia Tractor and just told one of the parts guys what I was looking for.
He knew what it was and looked the part number up in his book.

I will probably get my order from them sometime next week and will be glad to post the number for this kit.

Or if you want you can give them a call at (518) 828 1781.

They were recommened to me by Tom at T P Tractor Salvage.
They are located in New York state.
Nice folks to deal with, the only down side I can see is that they charge you 8.25% sales tax on your orders. (Och!!)

Actually if you order the seal from Case/IH, it comes with the sleeve kit.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!
