I AM NEW TO TRACTORS BUT LIKE THEM A LOT. THERE IS A YELLOW AND WHITE CUB FOR SALE IN MY AREA IT LOOKS LIKE IT HAS A FAST HITCH AND REAR PTO WITH A 5 FOOT REAR MOWER DECK. THE TRACTOR RUNS AND DRIVES BUT NEEDS TIRES AND AN EXHAUST SYSTEM, IT HAS A LOT OF SURFACE RUST AND THE MOWER HAS SOME ROT ON IT OTHERWISE THE RIG LOOKS TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE AND COMPLETE. WOULD THIS BE A GOOD ONE TO START WITH OR AM I BETTER OFF LOOKING FOR ONE IN BETTER SHAPE. I COULD BUY THIS ONE FOR 500.00
ANY ADVISE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU.

Check the link below and look specifically at number 10. At $500 it would be hard to go wrong for what you are describing. But look again after reading FAQ # 10 and go from there.

I should mention that you could probably get that much or nearly that much for the fast hitch alone.

Bud: By "rot" in the mower do you mean that the deck is rusted through? If the mower is in pretty good shape and if you buy the tractor and later discover major problems, you should get your money back on the sale of the mower and fast hitch. In addition, by parting out the remainder of the tractor you should gain another two to three hundred. This would seem like a good buy at $500. Dan

There would be any hesitation on my part, it would already be on my trailer. :) :)

Ditto on what Art said. I am surprised BD hasn't already found it. His CubRadar gizmo must be on the fritz :!:

Same here, at 500 it would already be home by now, NO QUESTIONS ASKED :!: :!: :!:
