Oil Pressure Question

Been a long time lurker, mainly I've been afraid, because I have allways owned them orange tractors, and was scared you boys might whup up on me. But I did buy a 48 Cub that I absolutely love.
My question is I put a new gauge in (because the old one didn't work) and the cub shows 30lb pressure, the gauge is maxed out. What is normal oil pressure? And please forgive me for taking so long to find the correct color of tractor. :)

Hello Snakeoil,

The service manual specifies that the oil pressure should be 30-35 psi(gauge) at 1800 rpm. Also, nothing wrong with orange tractors - my dad had one. Come to think of it, orange is a great color - Go Vols!!

I believe the original pressure gauge was a 45 lb. gauge. Most of the replacements I've seen were 75 lb. gauges.

I would get a differnt guage that reads 60psi or more & check it again.
I have never seen a oil pressure guage that had 30 psi max.
As far as the 30psi of oil pressure yor good to go.

Just how do you stand it being so far away from Neyland
Staduim in the Fall. I'm working hard on a media/photo pass, so watch for me on the sidelines. I'll be the one who gets knocked senseless by some 300 lb. running back on the sideline. Maybe I'll make the highlight bloopers on ESPN.
