The cub pto is non-standard. It is slightly smaller than standard, runs in the opposite direction and runs at engine speed.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

They did make adapters that reverse the direction and reduce the rpm, as well as having a standard size shaft for the output. Unfortunately they cost nearly as much as a cub.

So there are no tail mowers ever made for the cubs that were 4 ft.?

I think Woods, Mott Flail, and Bush Hog all made one, but they were made specifically for a cub and are rare. Belly mount mowers are fairly common if you don't particularly need a rear mount mower. Another thing to think about are the Trail Mowers sold by several companies. They have their own engine and simply pull behind the tow unit.

Cub Mowers

A buddy of mine has what we believe to be an I-H C-2 mower set up for rear mount on the fast hitch, and coupling to the pto. Similar at least to the picture in the C-2 manual. I'm sure he would sell it since he doesn't have a cub to put it on.
