Farmall Cub

Looking to buy a 1973 Farmall cub /w cultivator for $2,300 since this is my first purchase of a Farmall , could anyone tell me if this is the going price for a tractor of this year

If the tractor is in good condition and the cultivators are complete, that is a fair price.

Sounds like the tractor is in prety good shape from what the owner has to say. I am going to look at it this weekend. Thanks for your input Big Dog

Thanks for the info Jim I will read this tonight and have a lot more questions to ask the owner before I take the trip. I am sure glad I found this site before purching a Farmall Cub. I now own a IH 154 LO-BOY and found out the hard way what to look for, in the last four years or so I have practically rebuilt the entire tractor. Well had my first lesson in what not to believe when trusting the word of someone trying to sell you a pig in a poke. I and my wife took the three hour trip, pulling a trailer, to look at the 1973 cub only to find a very poorly maintained tractor that had been started before I arrived, leading me to believe that it had not been running in quite some time. On the phone I was told that it just needed some sanding and a little paint. So imagine my diappointment when the dealer started the tractor and it smoked like a wood stove and leaked antifreeze from the Radiator. So for $2,300 I could have dealt with it if it only needed a little paint, and thats only a few things I am mentioning that were wrong with this Tractor. So needless to say I left and came home with an empty trailer. Im not giving up because I really want to own a Cub, so I will keep looking.

Yes Bigdog I have emailed Ralph about this tractor when I joined this site but didn't get an ansure. Ill Try again I realy would like to have a cub before the winter gets here. Thanks again for all your help.

Well Bigdog I just got off the phone with Ralph and it looks like Ill be the new proud owner of His 1952 Little red Binder. Ill be going down to KY on the 28th if everything goes well. Thank's for your help, Ill let you know how I make out.

Here's my '74. Doesn't look like much, but it's a real go-getter. Runs like a champ, no tranny noise, and coupled with this woods deck, a real fine mowing machine.
