Bolt head twisted off

I twisted the bolt head off the bolt at the top of the spindle. I have about a quarter of an inch of the bolt sticking out. I have went back thru posts on this forum and I noticed several comments about bolt-outs. Would this tool be of help to get the remainder out? Bob

Bob, I have never tried mine on a headless bolt but they sure work great on rounded off bolt heads. I dont see why it would not grab a headless bolt if it is long enough and you can get a close size [Bolt-Out] & tap it on to start. Plus heat & penetrating oil of`course.

I think the best remedy here would be to weld a nut onto the protruding bolt shaft and try to remove it that way. The heat from the welding operation will help to loosen the bolt. I don't know if a bolt-out will grab enough to work or not but it is an excellent opportunity to buy a set if you don't have one.

Thanks for the suggestions john and bigdog. I'll head into NAPA tomorrow morning and see if they have the bolt-outs. I'm not a welder, so it would be best if I didn't try that, I might never mow with that unit again. Bob

I got My bolt-out set at Sears for the standard cost of $20.00 so if Napa dont have`em try your local (If any) Sears outlet.

NAPA has the Irwin set of Bolt Outs. Not sure how good they are. I am just glad my girls got me my starter set and then the completer set at Sears. They have come in handy a couple of times already. Boy do they ever work slick :!:
