throwout bearing question

Postby bwatson » Fri Jun 25, 2004 10:08 am

My throwout bearing looks like it is made of graphite and has a small chip out of the side(about 1/8 inch into the surface area). Is this safe to run or should it be changed.

There is a grease zerk on the bottom of the bearing, should the bearing spin????

I don't think you need to worry about the chip. The graphite bearing does not spin. 8)

Also make sure you grease the fitting you mentioned. The graphite bearing soaks up the grease and that is what keeps it lubricated.
Then came Bronson
