Farmall Cub

found this plow out at the farm and decided it didn't look like a 54 plow. But then another member was interested in it, thinking it was an IH cub plow. I told him I would ask the Cub Masters. what do you guys think?

Well, it's not a 54. Whatever it is, it's a belly mount. Can't tell how big it is from the picture but you might be able to adapt it to a cub.

artc: I have had a belly blade on a cub which looks like the one in your picture. I sold it a couple of years ago so I can't verify that they are alike but it was made like it. Dan

I don't know the model number, but I had one like that a few years back. I traded it 4 or 5 years ago, but I think it was a very early model.

Yep" It's a cub plow. The hanger brkts are missing, and it's not upside down.

Unless it's a very early one, I've never seen one with a back arch like that one and only 3 holes to adjust blade vertical tilt.

It is A early model (1947) made as far as I know one year. If someone wants to post picture I will send you one of the blade mounted on my cub. DAVE

It is the early Cub blade ('48 ) . It is right side up.

Looks just like mine. Uses a rod to lift it instead of a bar. Looks like most of the lifting hardware is missing.

As usual, you guys are right (not upside down).......... I have mine sitting on a pallet upside down. Guess I should rotate it to prevent polluted brain burn!

I just bought the EXACT same thing. Just got it mounted. In fact, mine came with about as many parts as your pic shows. A few things I see. It is currently set up to grade at an angle - notice the pin holes are set differently for each side. That is fine and dandy, but totally useless. Another thing these '48 blades are missing (that I will add soon) is a bracket to hold the whole thing together when you take the bolt out to adjust the blade left to right. You'll notice on most blades there is 2 brackets on the arms with bolts. Yours and mine don't have that, so when you take the bolt out to swing it left or right, the whole thing falls apart. (I swear this is a picture of the blade I bought I just use a chain to attach to the hydraulics, as the bar that come with it is way too short. Another missing from our blade is the wear shoes - guess we'll have to manufacture something. I didn't have the alternate drawbar, so for 14 bucks I went to the iron shop and got what I need (and with help from this board, got everything in terms of measurements). Is it upside down or not? I vote no, cause you have the wear bar on the bottom. The newer blades had holes in the top for a snow-something-or-other. I wanted to convert mine to a front mount, but was gonna cost almost $400 for all the pieces. I decided belly mount was good enough. The only question I have, what color should we paint it? If someone had the codes that would be great.

Case/IH still has the blade shoes for about $22 a pop. The blade and all hardware would have been red.

Gord Trail and I went out to his old farm last Friday, specifically to check and see what condition his blade was in and what model it is. It is identical to the one shown here. I could tell it was a Cub blade but was not too sure which model. I thought it was one of the very early ones as it was missing a lot of hardware and the front spring etc.

Now I know that it is an early one. It is unfortunate that his is modified badly. It will take a fair amount of work to bring it back into a proper tiddly boo state, but I think it can and will be done.

Gonna need some help from y'all as far as dimensions and stock for the missing parts though.

Oh, and the blades could be red or blue, Gord's has bits of blue still on it I think. The Paint Chart and the Paint Committee Decisions on the Manual Server should clarify.
