METAL STRIP/BAND ON CRANKING MOTOR

Postby Arizona Mike » Fri May 28, 2004 11:25 am

I have a good starter on my '59 Cub, but that metal band with the wrapped end closure is broke..almost..it will not stay fastened together much longer. I have asked two Cub parts guys and an automotive electricrical shop owner about getting a new or replacement but no one has any idea about where to get this piece.

I would like to keep it original instead of using duct tape or something else.

Anybody know where I can get one of these?

Thanks

Mike

 You might want to try a starter generator rebuild shop. They might have old carcases laying around if they have been in business for a length of time. OR, They might know of access to some. :?:
Then came Bronson

When I bought my cub this band was held on with a large hose clamp.
I had it rebuilt and they replaced the band with a new original and painted the starter black to boot!

I have found out about a place up in Tucson that has these. I will pick up a bunch of them if they have the correct ones. Let me know if you would like me to send one out to you.

In the mean time...here is a good quick fix.

Mike
