WK, I wouldn't doubt that for a minute because those threaded holes in tractors and impliments are usualy full of dirt, sand, rust and everything else that is abrasive. What I do is use a rifle or pistol cleaning brush and place it in my hand drill and it does a great job cleaning out those holes. Using a little kroil helps also. Give it a try, it will save ruining those taps.
