look under the how to I did 1. However I just pulled the Hitachi and I am putting the delco 10si on. All you need to do is take all the wires off your cub that go to the generator and coil. Now run 1 wire from on/off switch to the positive side of the coil. the jumper from the negative side of coil to distributor. On the delco alternator is a post that says "BATTERY" run a 10ga wire from that to the positive side of the battery. this is now a negative ground system.

I LOST THE THREAD DEAR

Postby LARRY BALL » Thu Apr 03, 2008 4:43 pm

SMIGELSKI,
THANKS FOR THE FAST REPLY. I DID NOT MENTION I ALSO AM USING THE PERTRONIX ELECTRONIC IGNITION IGNITOR AND "HOT" COIL IN PLACE OF STD/POINTS/CONDENSER/COIL SET-UP. DO YOU SEE A PROMBLEM THERE? THE ALTERNATOR IS A SMALL 55 AMP UNIT MADE FOR A 2000 CHEVROLET METRO. A TECH. HAD A NEW ONE IN THE SHOP AND HANDED IT TO ME. IT FITS PERFECT ON THE CUB WITH NO NEED FOR A BUTCHER JOB ON THE HOOD. HOWEVER ITS NOT A DELCO AND HAS A 3 SPADE CONNECTOR. MAYBE I CAN POST A PICTURE OF THE CONNECTOR AND WHAT EACH WIRE IS FOR AND YOU CAN TELL ME HOW TO WIRE IT.

save yourself the hassle and spend the $40 - $80 and get the delco. otherwise your going to need diodes and all kind of other little trinkets and jumpers to make it work

Larry, there's certainly no problem with where the Pertronix stuff is concerned, as long as it's 12V, Neg. Gnd. They will co-exist nicely.
