Hey All!
There is a "mom & pop" landscape supply store about 2 miles from home. They are an authorized dealer for Cub parts even though they don't keep much in stock.. I called this week to see if they had aerosol 2150 paint. They carry that paint for (please sit down first) $12.02 per can. :o
That sounds pretty high to me, so I guess I'll probably be using something else.
I think TSC has Farmall red for less than $5 bucks per can.

I think I paid about $8.50 a can from my local Case/ IH dealer. I was surprised it wasn't more.

I think I will just wait until Grandpa gets a few more cans to keep around. Then I will take him something that needs painted  It is great to have grandparents, they don't think anything of a $9 can of paint. The main thing that I have noticed though is that once I had a youngin I am not as important as I once was

I have to agree with Don on this one. The Case IH Ironguard paint is unbelievably tough. I painted my grader blade with it 3 years ago, and I am just this winter starting to show some primer on the cutting edge. I use that blade all of the time too.

On the other hand, I used some Ace paint on a few things, and it came right off with little effort.

When I go through all of the effort to de-grease, clean, sand, scrape, mask, clean again, you better believe that I go for the best paint I can get my hands on. I sure and hell don't want to do all of the hard work again. Painting is the fun part :D

Big difference between the TSC paint and CaseIH 2150.
The TSC paint is not an exact color match, it doesn't cover as well so it will take more coats to get a good finish, it will fade quicker.

I painted two tractors almost entirely with the CaseIH rattle can paint and you will probably not find better paint anywhere. They don't make blue, so I used Van Sickle (different name on the can) on some stuff and it isn't even close to the quality of the 'factory' stuff...

Like Bill says, ya get what you pay for. I think it was about $8 a can last time I bought it.

I just bought some IronGuard Federal Yellow from my Case dealer for $5.23 a can and $14 for a quart of paint. I thought that was as reasonable as you could get 8) 8)

at my IH dealer a rattle can is 11.50 and the quart is 12.25. I bought a touch up gun from harbor freight for $12. low pressure so I use a small pancake compressor and I paint everything with it now.

Anybody got an idea how many rattle cans it takes to paint a whole Cub? Just a rough guess.

I'd guess a minimum of four cans. Wouldn't hurt to buy six while you're at the store. I've done a complete Farmall H hood and grill using only two cans, and six years later it is still in excellent condition with a very high gloss.

Thanks, Rusty. Gives me an idea how many to buy in one trip. Hate to run out and it's very inconvenient to run all the way across town, if they're open! I was going use another kind of paint but I'm convinced to use the IH paint.
