Can someone provide dimensions for the offset shank on #21 disk hillers:
I want to purchase a set of 14" disc hillers with 22" shanks from AgriSupply and make the offset to match the #21 disk hillers. Has anyone done this before? I would appreciate any input!
Stanley

I have thought about doing that very thing. Are you going to try to bend the shank, or cut and weld?
I will try to measure ours when I get home if the CRS isn't acting up too bad....

Per the book, the disk is 13" diameter, standard is 1 1/4 diameter with a 6 1/2 offset.
Per measurements of a sample:
Standard offset 6".
Upper section from center line of horizontal section to tip 5.
Lower section from center line of horizontal section to center line of bearing 8.
Over all height from top of standard to bottom of disk 19.
Note that the disk is at a bit of an angle, top of disk to center line of upper section of standard 4, bottom of disk to center line of upper section of standard 2 1/2.
Top of standard to center line of bearing 12.
If you are trying to duplicate the relationship between the upper part of the standard and the disk, the 6" offset may not work because of differences in the bearing of the AgriSupply hillers.

You may find you don't really need them to be offset.
I bought the Agri-Supply straight shank hillers and have been happily hilling ever since.

Thanks, for the reply. I have a set of orginal hillers (straight shanks) the 144 manual does not really show how to set them up.

pretty easy to set up, the more you open the face the more dirt it throws. You can play with the distance apart to get the bed you are looking for.

Re: Need dimensions for #21 hiller offset shank
One thing about them is once you use them you will love how much time they save on planting projects.
Planted 180' row of Asparagus last Sunday morning, they cut the trench leaving a small hill in the middle (perfect) and covered the trench up( 1: over crowns) then I can use them the further cover trench as plants grow.
Then lowered them light to the ground to cut my straight shallow trench for planting 90 or so broccoli plants
I think I am going to leave them on the Cub all the time as I think I can find more jobs for them all the time.
They are indeed handy

Rexxon
Are you using the straight shanks or the off sets?

Re: Need dimensions for #21 hiller offset shank
I can't see why the offset makes any difference? Except to allow the hillers to be set a bit further apart or closer together on the 144 frames... Otherwise don't they throw dirt exactly the same?

That's exactly it. Take a look at the Hot to forum/Cub Book of Knowledge/In the Field and you'll see. I tried using the straight one set up like this and the hills are very narrow.
