Probably another dumb question

Postby jwcoop » Sun Mar 16, 2008 10:14 am

Well, I've pretty well got the Cub apart and the engine is at the machine shop. The engine looked clean and had never been bored or had the crank turned. They will let me know what they think I need.
I built an electrolysis tank, similar to Rudi's but a lot more crude. That is like magic! I've already cleaned the floor pan and a number of other parts.
My dumb question. Should I clean my radiator in the electrolysis tank? It is really nasty but I don't think it has any leaks.

Thanks, guys.

No. Let me say it another way.... NO!

The base is an entirely different matter if you have things apart that far. It should do a good job there.

Just as further info to George's post, I believe that the radiator is made of brass, and that this will be damaged by the electrolytic process.

Stick to steel and iron, and you should be ok.

Just in case you didn't understand the Oracle of Fremont -
Electolysis tanks are magicians... they can make rust change places, AND... they will make non-ferric metals disappear  :!:
