Sweet 16...

Postby Barnyard » Sat Mar 15, 2008 2:42 pm

...found it's way to the barnyard this afternoon. The guy evidently advertised it about two weeks ago for $1800.00. I saw it listed Thursday for a lot less. The guy said it developed a knock in the motor and was slashing the price. I went to look at it and the guy had a charger on it but would not crank it saying he didn't want to hurt it anymore than it was. I can understand that and don't blame him. The price he wanted was worth the value of the implements that came with it so I wasn't about to dicker with him and gave the asking price.

He wouldn't take anything for a deposit saying he was old school and went by a man's word. After we shook hands on the deal he said "oh yeah, there's a disc that goes with it but it's at my cousins house. I'll have it brought over next week for you" Wow a little bonus.

Anyway I got it home and put a hand crank in it out of curiosity. It is tight. My guess is that his son probably tried to do something with it and fouled it up worse and didn't tell his dad. It's still worth the deal since I bought it as a non-runner. Just another project to go on the back burner.

In that last picture it looks like there is a huge chunk of hood missing. Not your normal put-an-alternator-under-there piece.

I think you are going to need an elevator in your barn real soon to have 2 levels of storage.

 8)

Trent, I meant to post this pic instead of that first full shot.

Bob, the barn walls are 17' high and the roof is about 24' high in the middle. I could put three floors in there if I wanted. By the way, calculating the square footage, I can fit about 100 Cubs in the barn if it were empty.
