Ever seen one ?

Postby Jerry M » Sun Mar 09, 2008 9:01 pm

anybody ever seen one of these ? Very neat and much much much cheaper than other 3 pt. hitch setups for the cub. Plus, ya still have ya one pt. hitch.

Jerry:

Ok, I'll bite :big what: :big smile:

Nope, never saw one before. Only ever saw a couple of Fast Hitches up close.. waiting for mine to get here....

But I guess that works. Where did you find that? It is interesting to say the least. I wonder how the weight of the 3 point implements will affect the CG and the useablility on a Cub?

Me neither!
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Never saw one before, but it looks like a good idea. The major shortcoming I can see is that the implement will be so far to the rear that the leverage will drastically limit how heavy an item you can lift.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

http://www.sweettractors.com / Rudi, just wondering, why would 3 pt. hitch implements be any heavier than 1 pt. providing they are the same size ?

Thanks : Jerry

Well, I guess EJP just answered that question...

That is basically what I meant by the question. It is the distance. I found that to be problematic when I was modifying some older Horse Drawn Equipment for Touch Control opertation... does change the tippy factor a lot.

Rudi, I see what your saying now. Thanks for pointing that out. I can see where it could still use some refining. Looks as though a little modification and the implement could easily be brought in another 6 or 8 inches closer to the tractor.

Thanks : Jerry

Jerry - I've seen that picture before, but have never found one for sale anywhere. They always seem to be "out".

Yeah, same here Lance. They do look reasonably easy to make. And I could see where some simple modifications could even improve it.
By posting it, I was hoping to open a door for some of these great fabricating guru's on this site but apparently, no one is interested. That, or they just ain't saying anything until they see if the can design a better one.

You can solve (some of) the leverage problem by moving the bottom attachment points forward. You might have to tweak the toplink attachment point somewhat. Since the three point mast, on most equipment, has the three attachment points in the same vertical plane, it should be fine.

I'm inclined to agree with you Mark. Besides most fast hitch implements have a long point setting the implement kind of far back as it is and 3 pt. hitch implements usually have the pins fastened very close to the main front frame of the implement if not right on it. I don't believe there could be a whole lot of difference even without any modifications to it.

I was hoping some of the more professional one's on this forum had already tried one and could give a more positive comment on it before I went out and bought one or had one made.

I saw one at Williams-Trull in Reidsville years ago. Would work better (and was possibly made for) on SA-100 family)

I did send an e-mail to Sweet. They didn't know much about it other than they were from one of the larger tractors stores and that they weren't made anymore. Not sure that helps much, but well it was a try.
