Intake/Exhaust manifold

Postby Brian Piersol » Mon Feb 23, 2004 9:39 pm

Well, hello there folks!! Brian Piersol alive and well here in southcentral PA just checking in. Only one plowable snowfall for miss cubbie so far this year. Oh well- I ordered a small can of Black Velvet- A POR product for
manifolds- heat resistive jet black up to 1200 degrees. Has anyone used this and have they had good luck with it?? I was told to apply it to a bead blasted super clean bare metal cast iron surface. Also, just what temperature do you think the manifold does reach??? Next is to do the muffler after I'm happy with the manifold- I'll check in later as to how successful this turns out- I'm too fussy- I know!!!!! I just love my CUB!!

I have used POR products over the last 3 years.I have always sand blasted to bare metal before applying POR. Did a set of exaust headers for a chevy 350 ci. high preformance .I used the silver finish,2 1/2 years old and still silver. The only rust to come back was a couple of small spots that did not get good coverage.Have always used in 70 plus temp Works great just do not get cheep and try to use thin coat. If you get it on your skin it will NOT CLEAN OFF,soaks in and must be worn off. Good Luck Russ
